Intteresting and informative note. Equally interesting picture to back it. Yes it does look kinda weird! You have shot the scene well. The image is super sharp and catches the eye instantly. Good luck in the contest!

The presence of aphids is call for the application of the garden hose. They kind of make my skin crawl. I think it's because of the numbers. Very nice capture. A true macro indeed!

Those look like nasty buggers and must work havoc on your poor roses. They are quite the pests. Good focus, good lighting and framing. I like your description. Thanks for sharing.

OMG this is horrible! Yuck! Very well photographed with good focus, the image is clear, good detail on these awful little aphids, there are so many of them and they wreck your plants! Did you try buying some ladybugs at the nursery ? Here they sell ladybugs and you bring them home and release them onto the plant and they go after the aphids. This is well presented and artists notes are appreciated . Best to you in the contest!

Wow this is very educational. I wish our eyes could see with such detail as the camera does. We miss so many surrounding creatures and things by not having the clarity and focus of a magnification lens.
I planted 4 rose bushes last year and not one survived. It almost appeared as if a small bulldozed came thru and took the whole plant away.
Your photo is beautifully framed. Great focus and very interesting. Thank you for sharing.

That is quite a serious infestation you have there. The tiny aphids are shown in very sharp detail with quite nice depth of field considering the degree of magnification.

Nice macro image. These are creepy looking bugs. I am itching just looking at them. Even worse they destroy the plans. This photo has great detail that really shows how they infest a host. Well seen.

Fred,
For someone like you who loves his garden this is truly an horrific scene..you can put on a rubber glove & squash them then & there spray them with washing-up liquid & drown them of get out the Rose Clear Spray & kill the bees too! Or import some Lady Birds~ Coccinellidae to eat them (As Sir Winston Churchill used to do!) Interesting & beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Fred this is a freaking great macro! Your poor roses, you need to spray them! Lol
These aphids are awful and I hope they don't destroy your flowers. I've never seen so many at once on a stem. Despite the fact that these bugs are kind of gross, this is a great entry for the contest with a beautiful background. Excellent clarity, detail and color and I wish you the best in the contest.
