Actually, Pat, I can imagine living a lot of places, but not here. As beautiful as it is, the cold and isolation would do me in. But you have captured the beauty and majesty of the scene and shown us what it must have been like to work that mine.

BBRRRR! I enjoy winter but I think I wouldn't like living in those conditions mining for gold.

You mentioned that you have some close ups of the buildings, but this view really gives the sense of isolation on the mountain. Nicely done.

Thank you so very much for your thoughtful review! Yes, I have posted just one building and a closer shot of the buildings here minus the surroundings.

Wow I couldn't even imagine the harsh conditions. I wonder if there is any gold left in those magical mountains.
I guess I will stay poor. I don't like to be cold.
A nice educational write to go with your beautiful photo.
Well done!

Dar be gold in Dem dar hills!.. lol. I couldn't resist..wink. the clarity is great. The angle of the shot of this snow covered gold mountain is great. The capture of the light is great. The image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall

Literally a cool capture!

Chilling coldness is palpable.
Snow covered mount...

Dramatic interplay between lights and shades casting soft highlights & faint shadows.

Good perspective & long depth of field...

Thanks for sharing...

You have given us a great perspective of the mountains compared to the tiny dwellings in the shadows. You wondered just how they managed to stay warm, if at all, during the cold winters. That gold must have been worth it. Do they still allow mining in Alaska?
Your photo is bright, clear and in wonderful focus. very nice.

Wow! Thank you so very very much my dear friend! I really appreciate your wonderful review and this six star rating! As far as I know they still mine for gold , I know they still pan for gold, for mining they have to stake a claim , I?ll have to check into that.

Awesome capture of a historic place . Just looking at it makes me catch cold!:) The abandoned buildings give scale to the white capped mountains. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!
