Too bad a we don't have a White contest,This would be a perfect entry.A very nice composition, she stands out well against her snowy realm, beautiful lighting,i can see detailing in her plumage. The bright black eye and bill really draws our eye to this lovely bird!

The overall whiteness in this Pat has made this into a good photo, and your exposure I feel is spot on and not to blown out, really well taken photo this...Brian

This is neat! I have never seen or have ever heard of this bird. I have been interested in birds all my life and have discovered new birds along the way.
This photograph is all white which is hard to get because of the blow out as I can see a little at the bottom of the bird but not bad anywhere else. Thank you for posting this. I may never see it in person but at least I can say I saw it in pictures!

Funny, I thought the eagle was the state bird...I was wrong. A beautiful high key photo with great definition between the bird and snow - remarkable. Another wonderful image to enjoy.

Thank you so very much Hilma, The Bald Eagle is the national bird , but each state has its own state bird. I really appreciate your wonderful review!

Great eyes and great photography. Neither the bird nor the snow look real. I know that it is. I love the soft violet/blue shadows. The delicate feathering around the head looks like a painting. This is really beautiful.

Are you sure that's a photo? It looks like a painting the way it's shaded at it's outline. Great shot. It looks pearly with subtle pastel coloring. Very nice.

Thanks so much Patti! These birds were hopping all over in the snow, I had my grandkids with me , they were tubing down the mountain and kept saying the snow was moving!

A rare bird to find and capture and one I have never heard of before. I am sorry Pat to be the only one to not go along with the fluffy crowd in reviews. Your focus is sharp , but your white balance is off with blown whites in background as well as on parts of the bird. No editing can fix it.
You would just need to use Kelvin scale with a low ISO and EV on minus to avoid the blown white. This can only be done shooting in manual. Plus a higher f/stop would help as well.
This is a sweet rare shot of a bird never posted here, but I am so tired of the fluff reviews here that offer no help in improvement in ones skill behind the lens.
I review all work based on correct camera settings and offer help to fix the problem.
Photography is about the light and when we are behind our lens we should always be in a constant state of learning and growing in our work.
I am sorry, but the Blown whites are distracting.
Nice capture, but some work is needed on white balance control.
=)

Thanks so much Sandra, for taking the time to review and for your suggestions, I know there are hot spots, but really liked the sweet face and clear eye. They honestly looked like snowballs that had come to life!
