Renate,
A beautiful picture of these Sycamore trees their leaves turning gold before falling to make a crunchy carpet on the grass beneath them. In four months time the new green leaves will open signalling that winter is over. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus. Good luck in the contest.

The ground in autumn as you say can be very beautiful. This is a fine photograph that tells that story. Colour capture excellent. Good use of light and nicely focussed. Green spaces was one of the divisions i worked for in our local council. The leaves were taken up mostly because residents complained of the mess. The leaves were taken to one of several compost sites and joined other garden debri and turned regularly to make fine compost for the next year's planting in parks etc. Sandhills on the outskirts of the city was a state of the art recycling centre for garden waste and tree felled material. It had good sales to anyone wanting bark chipping etc at a very low cost. The cash going back into the council budget. However I believe public sales were stopped due to DIY giant's complaining they were talking away their trade???
