Sorry Mary not to belong to the "club of fives" as Sange often indicates;
except michiganmike who is color blind as he often writes, I am always disappointed to see how many people on this site are dishonest in order to get a 5 stars in return;
your colors are oversaturated, resulting as usual in a very unpleasant blue cast on the bird and tree branches; disappointed and disgusted!

Don't mind the 4.5 star rating knew it wasn't a great photo but people like to see Aussie birds and I have only seen this one once. I didn't change the color at all it is as it came out of camera other than crop and resize but happy to accept your comments.

then you must check the camera setting; look at this bird on Google: it is really grey, while yours has an obvious blue cast;

Hi Mary, Isn't it nice when a potential subject lands right next to you! LOL This is a bird I've never seen before but it might not be native to the Northeast USA. Thanks for sharing this well taken photo so we all can enjoy him. Nicely Done! :o) Nancy

Thanks so much - no this is an Australian native bird but I think USA has similar. I always check out Sange and Eileen as I get to see birds from USA the Spoonbills are very different to ours.

I always enjoy seeing birds and other wildlife from outside the US. I don't blame you for wanting to check out the same outside of Australia. :o) I know Sange really knows her birds!

What an interesting bird and your notes are interesting and appreciated too, I would love to hear this bird sing. I really like its position in the frame and it's pose as it looks back over it's shoulder allowing a good look at its face and eye,
Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is well managed , colors and tones appear natural. Well composed and presented!

A nice unimpeded view of this beautiful bird. Good of him to perch out in the open like that. I like the composition and the great colors.

Mary,
A beautiful picture of this Grey Shrikethrush looking back over it's shoulder at you. Beautiful composition framing and lighting that highlights it grey blue plumage with the grey "cape" across it's shoulders. Taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Quite a nice looking nature shot posted here for us to enjoy! Wonder how it got its name? Presumably because it is good at striking out at things? Composition, exposure and sharpness are all fine. Well taken!
