Yet once you've come to be part of this particular patch, you'll never love another. Like loving a woman with a broken nose, you may well find lovelier lovelies. But never a lovely so real.It was so easy to disappear, so easy to deny knowledge, so very easy in the smoke and din to mask that something dark had taken root. This was Chicago, on the eve of the greatest fair in history.Chicago divided your heart. There have been times I have thought some dreams should never be dreamt, but I would hate a world where that was true. Chicago happened slowly, like a migraine. First they were driving through countryside, then, imperceptibly, the occasional town became a low suburban sprawl, and the sprawl became the city. One of the professors told me last week that he feels bad teaching with the way the economy is now. 'What's the point?' he said. 'Kids aren't getting jobs.' You never hear faculty talk that way. He did.Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning...proud to be Hog Butcher, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player with Railroads and Freight Handler to the Nation.Chicago has so much excellent architecture that they feel obliged to tear some of it down now and then and erect terrible buildings just to help us all appreciate the good stuff.

I imagine it was much more startling in real life, the sun as it rises, glowing on those tall buildings, catching the glass possibly in places. I always get this feeling of something unreal and alien, when I see these photos of huge blocks of concrete standing there next to each other, like soldiers lined up, if raggle taggle soldiers of different heights. Probably different in real life.

A beautiful cityscape Nik with excellent lighting and composition. Love the subtle coloring of the sky in background complementing the river and buildings nicely.

Gorgeous photo; it has a very aesthetically pleasing appeal to it with the color balance. I feel like this would be a great reference photo for a painting. I like the tan undertones that are everywhere and how they make this photo have so much warmth to it. The colors have a few rich and vivid sections sparsely to flavor the entire photo. Great timing too with the sunrise having that great effect on the skyline and clouds as well.

Fantastic cityscape format presented here with an excellent eye catching sky ..the palette of colours in the sky are brilliant and contrast beautifully with the colour of the tall buildings across the skyline

I love shots like this that show the golden glow of the morning and a cityscape. Your image showing the golden light having a special effect on each of the various buildings and heights, an impressive city indeed. Interesting colours in the sky. Good clear focus and thanks for sharing Nik.

Generally, I don't think of buildings as beautiful, but this is the exception. The light shining on several of the buildings is great. The sky makes the photo seem a be ominous. Excellent!
