Wow that is some supportive review thank you very much. Keep painting yourself. You will have your own style.

nice still life of fruit, jam jar and toast. Using opposite colours makes the quince stand out nicely. That looks like sour-dough bread to me with butter on it. Interesting, especially as I make my own jams in summer when fruit is cheap, just a few pots of any fruit, regularly!

I think you captured the Q quite well. I would love to see all three objects woven together somehow, or grounded, they sorta seem to float in air. But my favorite part of your painting is the pear.

Great subject for the letter Q contest. You have created this art piece so well with great texture, light and shade. Wonderful composition of the quince fruit, pot of jam and slice of bread with jam. All the best in the contest Brenda!

I have never heard about this fruit, but it is true that the Quince looks very much like a pear. I would really like to taste that jam.
I like the way you have arranged the fruit, the jar of jam, and the piece of bread, and also the red/brown textured background.
The brush work is bold but accurate, and you have used the high lights so well.
The format and framing is working well and everything is well placed on the canvas. I think this is both an interesting and well done painting Brenda, and I wish you luck with the contest.

I like the plain red/brown background and the way the jelly is spread on the bread, (in lumps) with the bread showing through. I liked the leaf on the quince. I like the deep colors. The shape of the jam jar and the fruit is nice. Good luck in the contest.

This looks indeed delicious. I dislike sweets, so the tartness appeals to me. It seems a hot summer. The jelly running from the bread indicates that to me. The still life is well painted. The differences in the textures, like the smooth skin of the fruit and the coarse texture of the leaf, are interesting, also the difference between crust and soft inside of the bread. The colors appear realistic. The light reflects nicely on the glass and the fruit. The still life is well composed, but the framing is to tight in my opinion.

I love your in depth reviews and this is no exception. Thank you ... The framing? I always seem to make 'em tight. Something I need to work on.

Can't say that I have heard of a quince before! Your nice image is very suggestive of summer eating. Your fine composition and notes offer us a good idea of what can be done. Nicely created!
