Hey Mark this is an excellent take of your best friend.
Using the black background not only as background but as a frame is out of the box, innovative, somewhat Avante guard and downright cool to look at.
Camera settings are spot on perfect. Color range is somewhat limited but tonality, clarity and hue are excellently reproduced.
Nice post and good luck... Bob

Hi Mark, usually If I came across something like this I'd Mark it down, but I like the artistic look of this! This has an out of the box look to it. I like the way the lighting shows only half of Penny. Great focus add to the shot. I enjoyed! Good luck in the contest! :o) Nancy

Mark, I think this shot of penny your Russell Terrier is very ingenious and I am sure you are always looking for a better way to present your subject, but I am a whole dog type guy along with the surroundings, but thats me. I do appreciate your ingenuity. Ray

Over all a great entry. The presentation is excellent. Love the light highlighting the small dog. Could be my old eyes but looks a tad blurry but again, could just be me. :) Thanks for sharing.

Makes me smile. My first dog many many years ago was a little fox terrier puppy my mom brought home to me from working her Rawleigh route. I named her Penny. Very smart, I don't think there was a trick she couldn't do. Your little Jack Russell looks so much like her. Great low-key presentation, sharp clear focus and good DOF. Also, your title is cool :) Thanks for posting.

Mark,
A very beautiful portrait of Penny the Jack her nose & left side lit up in a Sunbeam glowing out from the dark background her ears pricked & her eyes peeled watching something on the left. Artistic composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus. Jesse sends her good luck in the contest.

Sort of low key photo and i think this works so well if anything i think its better than the last one of your dog,pet photos can be a bit boring but this is far from that,it just shows what a bit of thought can do...Brian
