HI Bob, Wen I took a close look at this image the thing that really got me was the enormous size of the rocks that make up the pathway or sidewalk. They really are high! Talk about "stepping stones"! Sounds like this was a favorite place of yours! Love the view that leads you to the water. I though the shot was very interesting! :o) Nancy

Hi Nancy.. These steppingstones are 1.25m x .75m x .75m cut granite. They are stacked three rows high for a distance twice what is pictured. They formed the breakwater for the water leaving the lake back in the 40's & 50's.

When I was in my Teens this was 'at walks end' from my house. From here I would run and dive into deep water for 'a short swim', for a dry towel and her warm smile.

Thank you for the fine review and rating. I'm glad you liked the post ... Bob

Nice peak of a house between the trees. Over all the color, tone, lighting are spot on. Looks a tad out of focus but that could be my old eyes lol. It's still a very nice presentation. Thanks for sharing!

A beautiful sight indeed! The rustic charm of these old scenes is a testament to their enduring character and the passage of time. You framed it well, and the light, shadows, colours, and composition worked well. Good effort!

Hi Maureen.. This walkway was originally a breakwater. There were no trees or green grass, just a deep channel for the boats. These cut granite stones extend down about 2.5M all the way to the end.

Thank you for the fine review and rating. I'm glad you liked the post ... Bob

This is a lovely scene with the walkway leading one's eye to the house in the distance. These look like silver Birch trees on the left side of the picture; something I have not seen since leaving England. Focus and clarity are very good, and colors seem realistic.

Interesting scene , I like the way the wooden blocks create a path to your friends house. What an awesome place to live!
I especially like the way the trees are framing the house .
Well focused, clear to view , good use of the light. Colors and tones appear true and natural. I have to ask, did you swim?
Well composed and presented!

Pat, nearly every day of every summer of my teenage years I ran down this retaining wall and dove off the end into deep water. And it was "A Short Swim..." to her house for a dry towel and a warm smile.

Thanks for the review and stars... Bob

The scene of the Crystal Lake in the background, the blue roof cottage and the stony pathway that leads our eyes to the house is pretty dramatic. This looks like a movie scene. Great angle, lighting, and composition. Love the trees and the green foreground, too. Well captured and this is an image with a story to tell.

Hi Nieves.. And so the story goes nearly every day of every summer of my teenage years I ran down this retaining wall and dove off the end into deep water. And it was "A Short Swim..." to her house for a dry towel and a warm smile.

That's how it was for what seemed like forever. But forever ended one day as I stood "At Walks End" with no one to swim to. Our lives took separate paths and I never saw her again - teenage angst.

Thank you for the in depth review... Bob

Some people are meant to be with us forever. Some are just passerby.

The image looks very beautiful and realistic, until paying attention to the shadows and how they fall versus the objects as well as a reflections on the water and the directions they're coming from.

A good looking nature image posted here, together with interesting notes too! Your fine and classical composition gives us an enjoyable view along that path, with a lovely house in the background. Exposure and sharpness are fine.

High Bob - this image is very captivating with a strong initial impact being attributed to the sidewalk creating a powerful / effective leading line. The side walk along with the shade of the trees, creates a feeling or mood of peaceful relaxation. Further the image achieves the component of storytelling, as the viewer contemplates with interest the house in the distance. A Skillful display of technical excellence with sharpness, detail, controlled lighting and depth.

Hi Kathy.. This scene is very different from the one I knew as a boy. Then the water was right up against the stone wall on the right and was almost 10 feet deep.

In springtime the Rainbow and Lake Troute were an easy supper time treat.

Thanks for the fine review and stars... Bob
