This is exactly the type of photo I would have taken if given the chance. I especially like the limited color pallet and also how well you have brought out the fine textures of the dry plant. The background is nicely softened for the plant to stand out in an excellent way.

The photo is sharp showing truly clear and well defined details in every part of the plant, and the exposure is spot on.

The tall format is perfect and so is the centered position of the plant. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo Kathy, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Photos such as this often encourage viewers to look closer and discover hidden details and meanings within the composition. It is an excellent presentation of dried milkweed. You framed it well, and the light, shadows, colours, and composition worked well. Good luck!

Interesting capture. The clarity is great. The capture of the light is great. The angle of the old dried up milkweed is great. The capture of the light is great. The presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall.

The title fits this scene very well Kathy. It also makes me sad thinking the season is over. I guess in my case I'll have to go home and pull out my flowers. Composition shades, tones colours and textures are very well. Done and presented. Thank you for sharing.

These are pretty cool looking milkweed pods, I'm used to the regular, elongated ones that we have here; their shape reminds me of yellow swamp iris seed pods . I like photographing milkweed pods in the fall because i think they look even more interesting than when they are green. I find this very artistic looking; it would look good also as a b&w image. Definitely a great image for this contest, wish you all the best!

I have a very similar image but mine is Iris seed heads .
This shows that all, stages of life can be beautiful and you have photographed the dried milkweed so well. Spot on focus, this image is clear , exposure is correct, well defined detail on the dried milkweed, I like the way it stands out from the similar toned background .
Well composed in the vertical format, well presented!

Thanks Pat - I don't know why (I must need therapy - LOL) but I seem to see interest in beauty in almost everything.

What's a plabt? Hi, Brian - I tend to find beauty in most everything - My son, who graduated from the Art Institute in Boulder (Certifying in Photography) is always over the top with these scenes - Thank you for taking the time to look and review.

Season's End is the perfect title for your portrait of a fading milkweed plant. With the natural tones of natural in Autumn, this actually had a sepia toned look. Very nice.

Thank you very much for this complimentary review. Yes, I love how mother nature grants us sepia tones.

A good looking image presented here into the competition! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us a very good view of that rugged weed. Textures, tones and detail are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!
