This single little cabin (home / building) among the vast negative space is very enticing, while offering a nice entry for the contest.

Initial Reaction: Caution - Oh, NO! I hope that little home does not fall into the water when more snow / ice melts.

The use of red stands out brilliantly among the snow and water and offers that center of interest for viewers to lock onto.

The water provides a strong leading line into the scene as it re-directs us to the little cabin. AND as so many rivers or streams, I like the way you have designed the shape of the water feature.

The thin strip of earthen brown in the horizon works to offer gravity and distinction between the snow-covered ground and the low laying clouds.

That dark sky leads to the story of isolation and seclusion.

Good luck in the contest.

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine and classical composition gives us an enjoyable view of an isolated house up there in the cold north. Well painted and good luck!
