It is nothing more frustrating to have an itch on your back you can't reach, so just like you I feel a bit sorry for this bird. I especially like the close and personal approach, and also how well the bird is standing out from the background.
The photo is sharp with clear details and you have handled the white balance so well. The exposure is perfect.
The tight framing is working well for this photo and the bird has got a fine placement off to the right. It is a funny and well taken photo Allan, and with a very good DOF.

Thanks Annie, I felt for this bird, it could not quite reach the itch and tried multiple times. I was willing to scratch it but somehow I don't think that would have worked out well.

You are more than welcome Allan.

Nice job Allan. You have captured this bird in an action shot while it attempts to satisfy the itch. I personally enjoy these types of captures that allow viewers a closer look at wildlife mannerisms. This is a very effective black and white presentation and allows for a clear view of those black legs against the monotone sand. A crisp, tack sharp image that captures the textures of the bird. Framed nicely with both feet in the frame. Awesome!

Thanks Kathy, I always pay attention to your reviews as they are a profession perspective that you don't get from everyone. BTW-a car in front of us had a Colorado license plate. It was beautiful, a mountain background with a male elk in the middle of the numbers. Cool.
