Hi Cindy.. Where flower photography is concerned timing is everything and you nailed this shot!
I like this arrangement, some might say "but ya didn't get the full face of the bloom." the counter to that is but it's not just about the full blossom. And that is what makes this take stand out.
All camera technical factors are perfectly aligned to bring out the full beauty of this Hibiscus.
Your portrayal of the life cycle of the hibiscus is well presented and is a joy to view... Bob

I like this arrangement, some might say "but ya didn't get the full face of the bloom." the counter to that is but it's not just about the full blossom. And that is what makes this take stand out.

I really like the way you have show the three stages of a Hibiscus flower, and also how the light green empty pod has got the shape of a little flower. The light is falling on the flower in such a lovely way, and is standing out from the softened background in an excellent way.
The photo is sharp showing such clear and well defined details in all parts of the photo. The colors are crisp and clear and the exposure is perfect.
The format works really well and the flower has got a very fine placement within the frame. This of course makes for a good and well balanced composition. I think this is a lovely and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.
