I can imagine myself to stop, pause, and think about this abstract painting in black and white. I like how you have freely express yourself in this piece and gives your viewer something to think about. Excellent contrast and framing. There's always something mysterious in abstract piece like this, Ray.

Lynn, It is out of the box and it led to the curiosity shop. I tried to capture people dancing in the dark, their profiles and motion. Ray

This is an interesting take of Springsteen's song which I absolutely love. But I have trouble interpreting the image; Maybe you can help me out?

Michele, I tried to match the song title. You can't see much in the dark, no color. The abstract gives the impression of dancing. Flashes of profiles and suggestions of movement. I remember his first concert on Long Island at the club, My Fathers Place, It was great, 50 years ago. When you come down to it I could of showed just a black canvas. I hope I explained it well enough. Thank yoiu for your intrest. Ray

Ray, I applaud your use of a new medium. However, I think, as an abstract, it works well as black & white. But personally, I think if it had some color in it it would be more interesting to look at for the viewer. I do like the texture of the screen showing through. That makes it interesting.

Aimee thank you for your review and thank you for the compliments. This is not a new medium but a new way of applying it, painting through a screen and secondary printing with the same screen. This is an abstract in black and white and you added it works well as black and white. Then you added your thoughts about color in the piece, that it would be more interesting to the viewer. The title of this black and white abstract is "Dancing in the Dark", an award winning song by Bruce Springsteen. I thought about colors in this abstract and I ruled it out because you can not see colors in the dark. That would leave me with a blank black piece of paper. Being an abstract impressionistic painting I used white to give the impression of movement, dance to be exact. You being an accomplished photographer I am sure you would understand, like a black and white photo. I must thank you for reviewing my painting and you personal opinion because I learn from it. If you were reviewing a photograph and it was black and white, would you degrade the photographer and take a star away because it wasn't in color, knowing that 4 star rating would destroy any previously earned 6 star rating which is hard to come by. I have been here actively going on four years and only one artist degraded my work, because she did not like abstract she would 4 1/2 and 4 and I know why, she couldn't understand it. There 8 photographers that degraded my work because of the position of a tree, or the colors I used or because they couldn't understand the painting. Why would a photographer on this site want to degrade an artist. There is no benefit for the photographer but it destroys the artists rating. I was a professional photographer but I don't understand. I am not angry, I am just disappointed, sorry for the long story. Ray

I had no idea that a 4 would cancel out out a 6, sorry.

I love Bruce and this song. This is a cool abstraction of Bruce Springsteen that appears to dance through a well balanced composition. I enjoyed viewing this. It is thought provoking.
Have a good day, Ray!

The 4 1/2 er is back, was it a mistake again like all the other times a computer glitch? if you do not enjoy my work please don't review it. I don't see your point, you gain nothing by your 4 1/2 ing, simple berating. You can criticize my work all you want, but don't berate me. I never did that to you and I don't expect that from you and I have criticized your work. You blamed all the 4 1/2s on a computer glitch and we both know that is BS. I spent a lot of time explaining what I do in a cordial way, trying to help you understand what I do and what abstract is in general, I must be a fool. Brian you are very disappointing and we aren't even competing against each other. I have had a lot of patience with you. and for what? another degrading. Ray

yes it was a mistake as i ment to give five will alter it,my comment was i did not think it worked as well as the other one simple as that
-
Ray have been given 4.5 by a few people on here and they have explained why which i don,t worry about and i would rather that than everybody giving five for everything as some people do on here as for the other computer errors that was geniune and not BS as you put it
-
Have it your way.
-
i always try to be honest with things on here so don,t see the problem
-
Brian be as honest as you want to be, but don't berate. You criticism is well taken berating is not. I am done talking about it. Ray
-
you clearly Ray have an attitude problem i have been given fours or 4.5 sometimes i agree sometimes i don,t but i don,t go off on one because of it,end of
