This is a lovely portrait of the spiral ginger. They are a wonderful plant. I have many of them in my own garden and was just looking up how to propagate them this morning. I love the way you chose to feature just one of the stalks to portray. You have given it a very strong sense of focal point in the way that you have shot this with the plant coming from the right front, third of the composition, shooting to the left third of the composition. It is very striking even though the background is shades of green like the plant itself. The bokeh of the background helps to make the focal point stand out, and of course, the bright red of the stock is in a wonderful contrast to all the green around it. I hope while you were in the gardens, you were able to see some of the spiral ginger in bloom. There's a beautiful yellow flower that opens on the top of them that has a sweet substance in it that the bees and ants love and it is also edible.

I don't believe I have seen a ginger flower before , this is beautiful and very interesting to see.
I love the way its stem reaches in from right frame .
Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is correct, colors and tones appear natural.
