Nice macro shot of the mantis..I like being able to see the eye. Your composition is pretty cool..I like him leaning into the frame. To me it fits the parameters of the contest just fine. Donkeyoatey

donkeyoatey,
thank you for your time.
I have seen others do this where they have to keep their identity a secret so I leave you with this thought:

I LOVE the subject matter!! The praying mantis being my favourite insect and green my favourite colour. Your camera seems a bit out of focus though - maybe it's not meant to take these sort of macro shots? Otherwise, this is a fantastic composition to me!

denisestanley,
so the maco lens would have made it perfect? did not have one... but is that what needs to be done to get a better rating? thank you.

It definately fits with all the different shades of greens the head looks a bit out of focus to me while the rest is clear, nicely presented within the frame thanks for sharing!!

the title is great, but this is a spectacular shot, so clear, and close-up. shows the unique colors of the mantis. The light use accentuates its' color and the lovely green grass blades so well. I like the head of the mantis, you can see the features of the face amazingly well. A nicely presented shot, outstanding impact.armymom

The focus on the larger view here looks very soft so using the smaller view to rate as the focus on this looks much better.
Good colors and lighting on this!
Good luck in the contest!

Mattison,
thank you, sizing on this site can be a pain sometimes.

Did you download the Infanview program? Or what ever the name of that is.
They recommend it here for that. I was a big chicken about downloading ANYTHING but found it quick and quite easy to use once I realized that you had to go into the file section and make sure you use the 'save as'. With the first several ones I did, they ended up in my 'Documents' file then off to my 'Kathy' file.
Give it a try and see if it helps you as much as it helped me because now, I can post even my largest shots without NEEDING to crop everything out of the shot just to make it small enough to fit here.
Good luck and happy shooting!!
