To me the balance, and composition, are well tended.
The color and shadow play well together.
The light works.
I see a creative and skilled imagination.
Also I believe that this image caries a capacity for story telling.

You certainly get an A for effort and a 5 because in my humble opinion you deserve it for the results you achieved. It is fun and challenging to try this different stuff (I know nothing about it either), and to actually get something that is recognizable is always a plus. I think the colors are great. Good job.
