Although there is so much that is good about this photo and the difficulty level high, the bird and the background is dull.
As an observer, perhaps I have come to expect more color. If not that, more tone or a contrast in texture. This bird might be a good candidate for black and white. With b & w, the variation of tones is what pops and gets noticed. With a slight conversion, we might get a totally new perspective. Just a thought ...

Wow wow wow. I could only dream of getting a shot like this. Such great focus, great DOF and I totally love the movement you can see in the wings. The green background is beautiful behind the colour of the bird. gosh if i had to be really picky, I would say i only wish there was a little more light in the birds eye (though i can see some) Thats just being so totally picky though. hahah it really is a great shot. well done

What a wonderful job taking this photograph. Love the colors, the sense of motion, but without fuzziness. Wonderful background and the bird is so clear and sharp. I can even see his little claws tucked under his belly.
