Strange but interesting and fascinating image.
The image has a strange charm, can't explain it but something is going on. Wish that more of the image was in sharp focus other than the subjects right eye - especially the snout. I also wonder what the image would look like if it had been tanken through a polarizing filter to remove the reflection of the blue sky.
In any case, a nice right in your face image and wish you luck in the contest.

You are a brave soul to get this close to a snapping turtle like this. I like the close up and the way you see so much detail on the face.. Don't think I have ever seen one that close. An excellent picture. Good luck in the contest.

I have a water turtle and I've had her for 20 years and she'll still snap if you come too close.
You did an amazing job by capturing the eye.
The eyes make the photograph.
