Personally I think your dahlia looks great all on its own. Love the red center and the little lavender tips!
IMO the smoke and liquid distract from what's lovely. ( It kind of looks like someone put out a cigarette in the water under the flower) Perhaps if you wanted to jazz it up you could light up the center with Viveza, a free download with NIK. Check out Color efex pro for some great special effects. Paula

This is fascinating the way you have done it. I like the close up of the beautiful flower. I like the way you placed it in the picture. I like the way you have the black background. I like the way you have made the smoke. The flood filter works well on this. I like the way you used the black to frame it too. An excellent and creative picture.
