Ahhh, there is Medusa in all her glory. Very unique take on this icon. Great colors with good initial impact.
Very nicely done

Before I even read your notes I knew exactly who this was!
I really love your interpretation of her and the
ominous look she has.The color
palette is striking and the
hair is done amazingly well.
Love this, wish I could give you a six star but they won't let me.
Here's a "cyber six" for you~
Angelheart :)

My friend, this is also another of your departures and it is so refreshing. Before I read the artist's notes and noted your more classical attribution, I was thinking of an American commediene named Phyllis Diller. I realize you may not have heard of her and she has passed away so she won't be suing you...lol. Great work, I love the new stuff. Cyn

:):) I don't know Phylis Diller. I will google her. Sounds interesting. I am trying to do some figurative which are not of the 'run-of-the-mill' kind. I appreciate your comments. Thank you so much for your support. Glad you liked it.

OOh, androgyny again, and also ambiguous ethnicity. The broad nostrils hints at African origin, but bushy eyebrows belie this. In this interpretation of Medusa, the monster herself is suffering, which seems an apt basis for Greek tragedy. The snakes drive the action, causing even their surroundings to writhe.

Great painting. Isn't Medusa the one that if you looked into her eyes you would turn into stone? I studied Greek mythology briefly in college but I've slept since then and don't remember the story exactly. I love the colors swirling around her head. It adds a menacing feel. The snakes for hair are just plain creepy! I think leaving her eyes blank is very appropriate for this little sweetheart. Well done.

How did you like my Persian cat? Her painting is titled "Pretty Sienna". I don't remember if you reviewed it or not.
