I have loved the hobbit since I was a small bay, but none of the movies for me, until the last ones reallyworked! Gollum is wonderful, and you have given him the creepyfeel to perfection. I like the eyes a lot, and the teeth! Great idea to do the nails like that, it makes him more scary, and you have an almost three dimensional look, as if he is going to pop out of the screen. Very scarey, but a lovely combination with the eyes and nails. Very effective and very well exposed for framing.

haha yes you sure are the coolest old dinosaur, that ever walked the earth. this is such a brilliant piece and the splashes of yellow and blue, are such a brilliant touch. you really have achieved a life-like expression, which is all so important in the fantasy genre.

I picked this with feeling- although the lab pressuring me is run by 12 Pakistanis and a handful of white women mainly- the Former Minister of Health actually signed the awful experiments to go ahead saying 'we have a surfeit of population' and because they owed us massive compensation for beaming our lives to the USA and looping all over the place- to my mind, here is Arnold, having sex in the Ministry offices with Anna Grey now junior secretary there (they were seen) former bossess of the Lab St Barths Human Research. People have said to me: do horror paintings of them - I just can't, to keep going I block my mind to them. You know, my degree was contemporary German yet I refused to read Mein Kampf. why read the ramblings of an insane idiot, I feel the same way about the Ministry of Health, devious, evil creatures. You capture my thought perfectly as always--

you could call him ARNOLD after the evil Minister of Health who signed to put his population out for experimentation-

This is a great drawing about of this character. Great texture and facial expression full of evil. I love the idea of that thinking of creating a series of work on the hobbit. Wow... genial, I like!

Nicely done, I look like him, that disgusting little creature, my precious! Nice use of the media, he fills the frame, maybe needs a little more negative space at the top, overall though I like the colors and the pose, you captured his essence in this drawing.

how much of negative space do you think i should have left?..just curious..thanks for the excellent review.
reply by Lucien van Oosten on 04-Jan-2013
I am thinking another 1 to 2 inches at the top, so when it is matted & framed you do not loose the top of his head, know what I mean?
    Cheers!!!
