Trixie,
it all has to do with looking and seeing what is there, and the turning colors into their gray-scale counter parts. I guess it involves patience, of wanting to get it correct, in the art of really seeing the shades, the lighting and not being too critical on yourself.
I try very hard not to be too hard on myself when I screw up. This drawing took a total of approximately 40 hours, over a months worth of time to complete.
Thank you for you support of my work and me, it is appreciated, I am pleased you like the results of my efforts.
Have a great day,
Cheers!!

A great piece of art. The German Shepherd looks alive on paper.
THe sizes are all good - ears, tongue, neck...
Thank you for sharing.

This is a really beautiful drawing of a very handsome dog. Very realistic and great textures. The background adds interest and compliments the dog that demands attention. Very nice.

Hi Lucien,
Love your happy, tounge hanging German Shepard! You gave the dog the bright alert look they are known for. I would think working with dots would be distracting and you'd lose track of what you were looking at, bit you never seem to have trouble and do the work beautifully.
THe shading of the fur and the detail in the image is always spot on! Beautiful Job! :o) Helvi

Beautiful drawing. Eyes are very expressive. It would take amazing patience and control to use this technique - and you obviously know what your doing!

Whenever I see beautiful work like this, It makes me think how easy it is for a Photographer to click the shutter and post the photograph. Your creativity and imagination as well as skill really bring this pen and ink to stand out all by itself. Tongue seems it may be a little to long, but it certainly does not take away anything from this Great work. Thanks for sharing it. Royal

What amazing skills you possess within those Talent genes of yours. I cannot imagine possessing the gifts required to do something this lovely, especially using a Pointillism style. So much feeling coming from the animal. Your light and shadow usage works perfectly for textures, depth and angles. What a treat to behold! JAKE

Doris1022,
no modeled after my mother-n-laws deceased dog, just a great pet to her. Yes gentle and friendly.
Another one with zillions of dots! It is all by hand, no machines used on this creation as well, just tools a pen and ink.
Thank you for the support, I am very pleased you like this piece of art work well enough to comment on this one as well.
