I think this is magnificent, Suzanne. As a retired music teacher...and lover of Jazz..I love this one. Especially the gray hair! Your artistry speaks loudly in this work. The freedom of your brush in areas and the detail in just the right places, plus the blend of dynamic colors is stunning! I love this! Thanks for reviving!

Very cool colors in this piece. I like the purple a lot. Everything in perfect proportion. I like the shadow off in the distance too. Great composition and wonderful painting!

The capture is so cool. The jazz band would be pleased with your interpretation. The bold colors along with the background figures portray the lively scene you experienced in the club. The depiction of the musicians just ooze talent and soul. Great work.

Suzanne, since Jazz can be so impressionistic itself, it seems very appropriate to me that you have done this in an impressionistic style. As such, and along with your excellent color palette, you have clearly conveyed the atmosphere of both cool and hot Jazz to me. The juxtaposition of the two bodies and the variance in angle of the instruments and arm position make for a super looking composition and those shadowed on lookers in the audience in the background are a perfect touch. I think this is fabulous and I can almost hear the music playing. You really got me in the mood for some Jazz :).

%.5 stars is all I have left..super painting...my father was a jazz musician --guess that's why I might be partial to a painting of " older " musicians...love the vibrant colours you applied to the background...nice contrast between left & right of the backround...the musicians seem oblivious to the crowd --which they are when they are really playing & improvising...this really grabbed me...which artwork should do!!
