This is quite a striking image because of the colorful and vibrant background. I do however thing a true silhouette is meant to be solid. Of course your way is more artistic with the background shining through. I would also have left out the white light flare in the upper left corner, because it is a bit distracting.
The silhouetted horse is standing out sharp and well defined and I like the dramatic pose of it.
I think the framing of the image works well, but would have moved the horse a bit more off to the right. It is always better to have more negative space in front of an object and less behind. Still I think this is an all together creative entry for this contest, and I wish you luck with the contest.

no, it needed to be almost on center, adds drama.
And to me a good silhouette, can have some light on its edges to add depth and perspective to the main component of the composition.
