Ah just think of all those rotting teeth and fatty livers. This is very interesting, in Baltimore harbor there is a very similar building--an abandoned Domino Sugar factory. The building, I think, has been converted to condos, but they've kept the Domino sign. Anyway, I like this picture. Just a hint, I'd try to lighten up the red brick building a little. Nice shot.

    thanks so much James

Well framed and composed with a blocking off of the factory blocks well done. The image clarity is obviously well captured. Since the business of America is business, this seems to be a shot of a landmark. It makes you wonder how many souls toiled away on this inside and it makes you wonder where all the sugar came from, as NY state obviously doesn´t grow sugar as well as the southland does :) I also wonder about how old the building is. It does elicit interest if you are a sugarfan, such as I. Well done.

Great sugar entry. Very nice picture, and educational for me because I did not know where the headquarters were, and I definitely recognize the name Domino. Nice to include the river.

There is a building like this, but called Redpath's sugar in Toronto (if my memory serves me well).

I like this image for your unique presentation of the subject matter.

To turn it into monochrome makes it timeless of course but you also caught all the detail of this building well, sharp and easy to see.

The point of view is excellent bringing the entire subject to us and the ambient light that you shot this in is very nice leaving no harsh shadows anywhere. It looks to me like this photograph was carefully thought out and planned before shooting. The mark of a good photographer.

I have just finished shooting some sugar shots...have been inspired by this contest.

Hmmmm, I think I like it better in colour, more to see and more to get caught up in. I know I've been having glitch problems with this computer too...technology, sigh.

NATURE photo , sorry I have to disagree
more man made ,be great in in history or architecture/just me you could win a contest with this?just not in nature?..
DOF in the frame left to right is very good shows everything
the detail is very clear as in ( domimo sugar) every window door shut glass is very clear .
looks huge so good they don't pull history down .even if they change the inside to some up market cafe .
black & white tones fits the subject well
The information provided is great .all around a good view good shot nice work & thanks for sharing

Guess you can't get much more appropriate for contest with the sugar factory - perhaps sugar cane which I guess doesn't grow in New York :)

Nice choice for entry, the factory building looks pretty old. You have composed image well with good focus.

Nice architectural photographic capture of an antiquated building which manufactures one of our basic condiments!
An interesting initial impact.
Good tonal variations.
Good perspective & looooong depth of field...
Excellent lighting, focusing & framing.
Thanks for sharing.
More illumination could have added more impact on the building structure.
