How beautiful,I can see where they would indeed make lovely Christmas cards! I love the young shepherd pointing for the star, the other turned toward him most likely discussing this heavenly sight. An incredibly beautiful creation, the use of light and shading brings this alive and draws us into this scene!

A wonderful picture of the Shepherds pointing to the star Your capture of light in this picture is magical & brings the Shepherds to life & can almost see them move as they breathe & their breathe coming out in a mist into the frost night air. Created with an artist's eye for composition, superb & very skilful draftsmanship & shading to create this three dimensional work of art.

Isn't it interesting that the angel appeared to the shepherds and not to the religious leaders in Jerusalem? If we want to announce a great event in our day we tend to leave out the down and out. But the LORD in His desire to humble the proud came to the shepherds first. The story touches me because I have always been considered unworthy and cast out by family. I have always taken the work nobody else wanted and never recognized for my faithfulness or hard work. But on that night, the night of all nights, God came to those in the fields who labored unnoticed, unrewarded, and unwanted with the news of the birth of His only begotten Son. Your art has captured the essence of that scene in the expressions, the lighting, and the composition. It is a master piece.

You manage to convey such wonderful narrative in a few expressions and gestures. There is a slight glow around the shepherd in the foreground and the back of the second shepherd. Is this the angelic light shining on them or the light of the star. I love the simple pointing gesture of the younger shepherd and you can imagine the conversation passing between them. Never mind about Christmas cards, I think your beautiful drawings should be used to illustrate the Christmas story in a book. Thank you for sharing.

Fantastic!! There is so much expression in this picture. The rendition of light is superb, the proportions of the shepherds are spot on. You can almost hear the closest shepherd speaking! Really great picture Linda ! :)

A huge congratulations on the Traditional Art win! Not reviewing too much right now due to art shows and grandchildren but wanted to comment on this piece! The backlit effect is quite stunning-perfectly used here. This almost has an abstract quality to it in the shapes and patterns. I am particularly drawn to the hand on the left as it points to the illuminating star! The dark soft tones play well into the Christmas story theme, and think color would detract from this piece! Lovely! jean
