What I like about this piece of art is the essence of the Greek mythology that you have captured so well. The beauty of the mermaid is perfect because you show her face as soft and innocent in, which is very true to Greek mythology. Moreover, she is looking behind her a story untold? Perhaps she is swimming away from another Greek God? She swims in harmony with the waves she is hiding behind; this is well done! The background sea is modern looking? Perhaps this is to show how she was once a young lady in the "real" world opposed to a fantasy world? I would try and make the background a bit more mystical. Overall this is a great piece of mixed media art!
Best Wishes,
Lynn

Thank you for your kind review.
The story is not untold. She is indeed swimming away from another god. Nerites, the mermaid is fleeing the wrath of Poseidon who will catch her and change her into a seashell. The see through should be modern looking. Is it not? It should look modern because the sea is entirely created from a realistic photo shot of the ocean. Furthermore it is a modern take on the story. It is contemporary art. I actually do not see anything mystical at the ocean except the Nerites herself. I gave Nerites a slight Victorian look, because it seems any myths assemble best in nostalgia in modern times. The illustrations to the story through the last 3500 years changed as much a the story itself over time, this is just my take on it. ~C.

Nerites! He figured into ancient Greek mythology as being the only son of the minor sea deities Doris and Nereus! For rejecting Aphrodite's request to accompany Her into Olympus She 'cursed' him by partially transforming him into a shellfish! ( YOW! It seems that one shouldn't say no to the old Gods! : D )
Anyway -That's a really good looking image,my friend! Everything about the picture is impressive and I find the coloration throughout the scene ( especially the distinctive greenish hue of the water in the foreground ) to be especially attractive!
A really Good Show here,my friend!

Thank you very much for your kind review and inside information of Greek mythology. There are quite a few different versions in Greek mythology and even more in the Latin American adaptions of the last 500 years. I have some different editions in Spanish and English. In some versions Nerites is female, one of the one of the Nereids, Greek sea nymphs in another she is the wife of Poseidon. There is also the story of Nerea, daughter of Doris and Nereus and sister of male version Neritis who saved her brother. Its slightly confusing to read through all those versions... Anyway my creature is female, the modern version of the Greek sea nymphs. I probably should have called her Nerea, but its to late for this now.
