What a lovely tribute to your grandparents and their wonderful life together. I'm sure your mother will be overjoyed with this sweet piece of art. Hopefully your mother is not in any discomfort. It is so sad to watch our parents and grandparents age. This is very special MK. I can tell you put your heart in to it.

You are good man to stay close to them while they are ailing. I hope they aren't experiencing a lot of suffering. So glad you are able to help them through this. Blessings to all of you. Nancy

What a sweet, sweet story, MK! I think you have done such a great job with this nostalgic recreation of a photograph of your grandparents. I KNOW your mom will love it. So special that you took the time to do this. I love hearing stories of how people stuck it out during the hard times and lived well into their golden years. My dad is 93 and boy does he have some stories. I am trying to get him to record them on a tape recorder so I can type them up. Thanks for sharing this very special memory. Now you need to draw/paint the old grocery store that is still standing!

It is indeed very unusual to see this in your collection. I wouldn't have thought of you without your name on it. Your grandfather was apparently a big, tall man because your Grandmother looks quite small beside him. I suppose you gave the fading look to the drawing in purpose, to give it the look of a fading photograph. This part works, but the frame takes over and draws attention away from the people. It is because the of its color. Red always draws attention. Maybe you could turn the red into a sepia or brown shade, so that the frame appears faded like the drawing inside it.

Great job on capturing the vintage look with your pencil work. Lovely fine detail still visible within the nicely faded look like an old photograph. I like the frame because it embraces them in such a colorful way showing they are not forgotten and treasured with much love and respect.

A little out of your zone, now that is an understatement Mark, lol. However this is fabulous. What an amazing gift for your Mom and really fantastic artwork, not sure anything with a sharpie is 'outside your zone".

Thanks for the great story to go with, really loved it :)

Well, it is different from your usual. It is a labor of love. The older I get, the more I realize that the past is indeed past but it is also a part of what we are. We carry it with us always.
75 years, wow! Goode job!! To them and to you. I wish your mother well.
