Its not a leaf at all. I don't know what the name of this insect is, but it is a master of camouflage. You certainly had you eyes working this day.
Camera management and artistic considerations are all of the highest caliber.
Excellent capture, good luck in the contest ... B-)) Bob

An unusual picture as the "odd one out leaf" does stand out clearly, but suggests it may have died and dried out and changed shape slightly then fallen further and landed as though it is part of this branch. But who knows.....the only problem I have with this picture is there's not much visual stimulus and the colours are nice but a little dull. Otherwise a lovely picture.

Oops I see now. I don't speak Latin you see so presumed it was the type of tree....however it does translate as "dead leaf" so I was on the right tracks lol. Still a nice picture.

you're not the only one; I wanted to be funny, but it didn't work;
this is the best camouflage I've ever seen;

UPDATE: AFTER LOOKING UP THE TITLE, I READ WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT. SINCE ARTIST'S NOTES DID NOT INDICATE WHAT THIS LEAF REALLY WAS, I HAD NO CLUE MYSELF AND EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE TITLE MEANT, I HAD NO REASON TO GOOGLE IT, BUT MAYBE IN THE FUTURE I WILL. I APPREICIATE BEING TOLD I WAS WRONG. I APPOLOGIZE. I WAS TOTALLY WRONG. I HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING KNEW THAT IS FOR CERTAIN. I HAVE GIVEN YOU A FULL FIVE STARS. THANKS FOR SETTING ME STRAIGHT. THIS DEFINITELY FITS THE CONTEST. BECAUSE I NOW KNOW, THIS IS A PERFECT CAMOUFLAGED PHOTO. WELL DONE!!!!
This dried brown colored leaf that your photo is focusing on probably got carried there by the wind...or maybe a bird had it in its beak and was carrying it to the place where he was trying to build a nest and just dropped it much too soon.
Yes, this leave does not belong, yet instead of being camouflaged, he stands out more because he is different.. Therefore, I personally do not think this photo fits the criteria of this contest. You perhaps may see this a completely different way. It is an excellent photo and you had be on the lookout for something different when noticing it. An everyday regular person would have just walked on by, but not you...you are a talented photographer able to see things that most other do not. This is a well taken photo. Thanks for sharing.

A brilliant picture of the Dead Leaf Butterfly/Kalina inachus perched in a tree with similarly shaped but legless green leaves. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus. I've never seen one before!

I hope other people will not read your comments and get the response too early......

Fred,
You can't read the responses when it's blind in a competition...Good Luck.

Perhaps it's actually some sort of an exotic 'Leaf Insect' trying to disguise itself as a dead leaf among many living ones!
Whether it is or not your photo of it is interesting,attractive,and enjoyable!
'Good Show'!
