oh how your garden grows ! with such an abundance of beauty and colour and thankfully you re able to share your gardening skills with us on FanArt along with your eye for presenting such gorgeous subjects through your skill as a photographer. The chiaroscuro techniques are superb through this piece along with the structure that allows us to take in the full splendour of this pretty little flower...just great, happy easter my friend :)

    Oh and a very Happy Easter to you as well Neil! ...and thank you so much for the wonderful review. I am always so pleased to read your comments re: my gardens....you always seem to appreciate the 'garden aspect' of my images and THAT makes me so happy! The snow is almost gone and I just cannot wait to go looking for the first little shoots that come poking through the ground.....oh but it's my favorite time of the year for sure! Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Beautiful shot of beautiful flowers! You capture great detail and the dark background really makes the flowers pop. They remind me of a flower my mother loved, but it wasn't Phlox.

    What a treat Bill...lol...two reviews and two gold stars. Really, you are very kind. Thank you so much for having a look at this piece as well and for the lovely review and most excellent rating. I do appreciate both.

Love their smiling faces and the colors of the petals and how they frame the middle. The dark background is a super way to focus the eye of the viewer on the exact subject you wish. I like the way they aren't all perfect. Very natural.

Very pretty photo. Like the different shades of pink with white highlighting the photo. I would of liked to see it a bit more sharpened. Thanks for sharing.

Nice photo! Love these flowers. I love that you darkened out the background so we can see the flowers more. The purple really pops.
Happy Easter!!

    Actually rasmine...the darkened background is the night...lol....I did nothing but photograph my flowers after dark....w/ a heavy duty large flashlight. Do appreciate you having a look and thank you for the very nice review. And Happy Easter to you as well!

They are lovely and so well illuminated at night which shows off the contrasting colors. The grouping of flowers you chose to shoot makes a very appealing display. It's so nice how the central flower stands out from the rest. Beautiful.

Lovely...I think your night time, flashlight flower photos are a signature of yours. Ingenious is what I say. The artistry that appears in the flower is more than only color...but also detail and reflection. And the shadows add a depth and life to the position of the flower and it's activities as night. Some of them close up and sleep! Not these little pretties! Nice work with this close up. The black bg shows this pink off nicely.

it might sound very strange but J've never been attracted by these flowers, maybe because they start blooming to late;
an excellent close up of these deep pink flowers with pin sharp focus;

    I agree sg...but they HAVE developed some really pretty early varieties recently. I have a number of lovely ones (including a white) that blossom as early as the end of June....some that flower July-Aug but these guys here don't make an appearance until early Sept! Thank you so much for having a look...and sharing your thoughts. I may have offended MM (Michigan Mike) w/ my 'fuddy-duddy' comment...lol

A fine capture of those flowers and in one of my favorite colors as a tread. The photo is nicely framed and balanced, but the background seems a bit to dark to me.
I love Phlox. I always had them down south of the border, but have trouble to keep them in the Texas climate. Here they are attacked by a microscopic boring insect, which kills them from the inside, invading the stem and the roots.

    I'm glad you like the color Cleo. I did take this at night in my gardens and that's why the background is so dark....night-time. That's awful about the insects. I think it's one good thing about our climate here....insects like that tend not to like it so don't survive if they ever even come in the first place. Thank you so much for having a look at my new piece. Always enjoy seeing you at the end of a review.

    You're most welcome. Nighttime indeed explains the dark background.

    I photograph my flowers often after dark....w/ a big heavy-duty flashlight or two. I really like the difference in the way they look in the dark.
reply by cleo85 on 16-Apr-2017
    I think the colors are more intense in the dark.
