Thank you so very much. It's actually a color photo. That is the actual color of the stone on the mountain. It is gray granite.

Living in Tennessee, I have always wanted to see this mountain. Perhaps I will one day. The fog is the perfect medium for this scene as the entire message that you spoke of is surrounded by clouded opinions, judgments and biases. The black and white rendering adds drama to the symbolism. Best of fortune in the contest ~ Steve

Thank you for your insightful review. I hesitated to post it because of the controversy.

Hi Anon
Woah! Is this really carved into a mountain side? what a find this must have been. And the detail is just exquisite. All the best in the contest. This is a bit left-field but I hope it does well! R

Yes. It's what the mountain is famous for. Thanks for reviewing.

The carving depicts three Confederate figures during the Civil War: Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. In today's society they are considered politically incorrect as many folks believe that Civil War was only about the right to own slaves. I won't go into a history lesson here or try to start a political tirade, but we can't rewrite history...only use it to learn from our mistakes and try not to repeat them. I do not support slavery or the suppression of any person's fundamental rights to life, liberty, and the moral pursuit of happiness and success.

And they want to tear this offensive work of art down. Don't get me started. I want to keep my blood pressure down.
Nice image. I have been there. Well focused. The fog adds to the mystique of the image. Good luck. Well done and thank you for sharing

It's a good good photo . Carvings at Stone Mountain. I bet there's a cool story about Stone Mountain . The history behind the carvings . The size, age , who the figures are , ect . I feel sometimes you need a brief introduction to set up your piece of art to bring the viewer in . Still a nice shot

I added this to the intro: This was taken on a foggy day at Stone Mountain in Georgia. Thanks for the suggestion.
