The lighting in this excellent photograph is spectacular.
When I first look at this I feel like I am watching a movie, and hit the pause button. This is a brilliant capture of this gorilla with exceptional technical skills and beauty in the subject. The details are magnificent and the touch of green really makes it interesting. But the lighting is
Remarkable and trust makes this shine. Wonderful work.

Comment from Life is but a dream.
Paul, LOVE IT. I love these beasts and you have captured him well with the point of view of looking down at him and with this point of view we feel his fragility inspite of his strength and gruff looks.
Your exposure is nice but you do have a hot spot on his nose, you could bring that down somewhat so it doesn't hit us in the eye so strongly...easily done and I see you are processing in PS.
The off center really works well and the eye catch is perfect it is the first place we go to ...to look into his soul.
Lovely.

Great looking shot!. Fine example of wild life photography. Your timing appears to be perfect and you have captured the quiet moment in the ape's life very well.
Well done!

This guy looks like a thinker. You captured the animal's expression well. I hope these great apes (life eland and mountain) will survive into the next century. Thank Hank you for sharing

Paul, out of the box thinking on this magnificent primate.
Lighting is superior and your use of the crop is very becoming.
Clarity is perfect, I love shots such as these... no need for a full animal.
Excellent!

Really lovely shot here, evoked immediate emotion in me. Love the side lighting on the face and you have left ample space to the right of his face while still maintaining a close crop. Well focused and exposed, really nice.

Intriguing. Wonderful specimen. What lens were you shooting with? Hope you weren't too close - you could have been his morning munch! Nice composition, framing focus and dof. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my! lol
It was a Tamron 200-500 Focal length of 500 used for the shot.
Thanks Chuck for the view and kind words!
