I'm so sorry to hear about your friends. It is indeed scary and confusing. You did the eggs expressions very well with the cracks on them. I like the colors you selected and and the background. The colors compliment each other. Thanks for sharing.

A thought provoking image. I hope to never have to go through this. It seems almost better to be the victim than the caretaker. An eye catching image with good colors and beautiful solemn expressions.

Your piece depicts that simply and beautifully. It is well considered....both in color (of background and heads) shape and angle of the heads. Love how you've done the eyes and how you've closed them in the third head. There is a sadness as well in the mouths of the front two....such melancholy despondency there. Truly a heartfelt tribute to your friends. I am really touched by it.
For your simple and very eloquent piece here a gold star.

Your piece depicts that simply and beautifully. It is well considered....both in color (of background and heads) shape and angle of the heads. Love how you've done the eyes and how you've closed them in the third head. There is a sadness as well in the mouths of the front two....such melancholy despondency there. Truly a heartfelt tribute to your friends. I am really touched by it.

The brain has been my area of study Linda....such a complicated 3 lb. lump of tissue. One of these years they will come up w/ a way to combat these awful diseases of the brain.....I am so sorry about your Husband. Truly. Your piece is so poignant .....and so well deserved my gold star. You are VERY welcome.

This is a wonderful and poignant interpretation (and title) of the anguish and sadness that takes place with dementia, for the caretakers and the person going through it, since their memories are fractured and they almost become a shell of their former selves. Your background is very nice and I think you've done such nice work with your shading and blending of the color tones throughout the image.

Hi Linda thank you for sharing this excellent painting that represents the feelings of sadness felt by the caretakers of your two best friends. your notes really enhance the emotion shown in your well rendered art.. There is so much expression shown on each of these 'fractured' faces.. I love the colour choices used in each.. the larger whiter face is the focal point in your scene. In my mind's eye I see soul to be the carer. The blue hue around the eyes and nose depict the pain and anguish felt. the position of the mouth and lips show a feeling of despair and concern.. yet the lighter tone in the face offers strength and support and the occasional twisted line of brush stroke perhaps reflects the worry that comes with caring for others. The eyes are clear and alert, watching and waiting to be of assistance. The face on the right with the brown hue around the mouth and nose has eyebrows which reflect the element of surprise.. the unknowingness of what is happening. the eyes are dreary, and dull, and lacking alertness.. and the expression on the lips is rather bland.. neither a smile nor a frown- a blank expression without that spark of life.. the many twisted lines of brushwork reflect the fragments of memory that have gone astray.. the mind that has forgotten what life is about, caught in the web of disease. the angle of the face is slightly leaning.. another attribute that reflects lack of strength and stability, as compared to the creamy white face in the centre.. The face on the left shows the same darker brown hue around the nose and the eyebrows are really defined. their shape offers the feeling of lost emotions.. the eyes are shut, showing no interest in life, and the mouth and lips are quite natural as if there is no reason for concern because the mind has lost the ability to show concern. it is in a sleep state where everything just passes it by.. The green splash of colour in the foreground near whiter coloured face offers a earthy fresh awareness and compliments the carer's strength and compassionate feelings.. the brownish hues under each of the other two faces has a less inviting appeal. The background is nicely blended with mellow tones as is the foreground. I like the highlights of yellow in the background, offering a little light and the feeling of hope.. as does the lighter hues in the foreground.. The painting is well thought out, beautifully rendered , with every detail having an inner meaning into the insight of both your friends and their carer. Thank you for sharing this excellent emotional and thought provoking work of brilliance Linda.. I wish for your friends, a journey that offers least suffering and the best quality of life available. A very sad disease. Your art displays the story well. I think we all know someone or of someone affected by this heart breaking disease.
I find it ironic you used eggs to show the fragility of life. Eggs are the beginning of life. Now at the end of life eggs are used in symbolic fashion.

You sure matched your art work with your story.
All three faces have eyes that tell the story. Sad, reflective, and resignation.
The muted colors add to the overall effect. The cracks show the effect of such stress as care giving.
