Beautiful shot of this cosmos. The color is wonderful and the focus allows us to see all of the details in the petals and the center. I also like the folded petal, it ads some interest and movement to the shot. The bud promises more in the future. Well seen and well shot.

Striking! What I notice first is the contrast between the totally black background and the vivid cosmos blossom. Your technique makes the 2 petals seem to reach out of the picture. I assume that there's a little bud peeking out from the top right? Very pleasing in its balance and clarity.

LOL yup Anne...the little guy was not going to be denied. As for the two waving petals.....these guys flutter in even the slightest breeze. Occasionally that is VERY frustrating....but worked to my advantage a couple of nights ago when I was taking this one. Thank you so much for the wonderful review. Always appreciate your thoughts.

The Cosmos stands out on the black background making the color a nice deep pink. I always enjoy these sorts of photos where you can count every petal; see the stigmas and stamens. No need to mention focus as it is in perfect focus. Thank you for sharing.

A beautiful shot Deb. I love the colors here. The yellow to the very dark magenta that slowly ebbs out to the edges of the petals. It does look a bit like a whirlpool galaxy, with the bright galactic core.
The texture in the petals is well defined and has a slight diffused/glow effect going on which reinforces the galaxy effect. Oh..and off to the upper right, a dwarf galaxy is forming.
Very cool!
Do they have a scent?

LOL love your galaxy analogy Trajan! It's a great review. So....COSMOS do not have a scent. Their strong suit (as far as I'm concerned anyway) is their beautiful symmetry.....and the fact that en masse they wave in the most pleasing way in the slightest breeze. Just lovely to watch. Thank you for this review...definitely made me grin this morning.

Beautiful and scientific and balanced. Thank you again for your wonderful artist notes. And do you know what balances this composition in the artistic sense of my view? That unopened bud peeking out behind it's big sister! :)
