Great photo of this drake mallard, standing up in the water, caught in mid flap.Reminds me of a child trying to get someone's attention! Wonderful focus and natural colors, the surrounding rippling in the water adds movement and texture to this great natural shot!

A very nice nature shot posted here. Your very appropriate, fine classical composition allows us a very enjoyable look at your handsome mallard. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely taken!

Ha - what a great pose! Nice timing and stop action. I like the victory V like position of the wings and how he is facing the sunlight which is accenting his colors so well. The movement of the water looks good too.

I like the pose you caught here, Barbara, showing this lovely Mallard with wings outspread, maybe about to take off. Very good lighting and focus showing a nice clear image. Very nice composition. Suzanne

Good catch of this guy just landing or drying his wings. Its finely focused but seems like maybe the sun was bright and perhaps right at noon when it is the brightest, because he is clearly a Male, but usually ther colors are so much brighter and shiny. I dont know if the sun was washing his color out, maybe he was born an odd duck? I noticed his right inner wing is dark (green?) And his left wing grey. Regardless, the shot was perfect timing and fine focusing and centering.good job

Thank you so much for the great review! I took this photo in the late afternoon when the sun was low in the western sky. The duck was facing west. Part of him was in the sun. The other part including his head was in the shade. If the sun had been shining on his head it would have been a shiny bright green.

I will wait hours on end just waiting for a duck to this while they preen. I love the V shape of the wings up and the correct shutter speed used to stop the action so well.
Great bird Photography Barbara ;)
