Due to the high key approach, the photo gained an artwork like appearance, but looking closely we see clearly that this is a photo. The colored eye in contradiction to the black and white plumage of the pigeon is especially interesting. The photo is well focused. The sharpness and refinement of detail is impressive. The cage in background emphasizes the pigeon and pleases the equilibrium of the viewer with its diagonal lines. The photo is well compost and framed.

    cleo85,

My apologies for the delay in responding.
Thank you for your time in reviewing my photo, I liked the grid pattern as well, for the reason you stated. It is appreciated.
These birds are interesting to see mostly because of the scalloped look of the feathers.

A little fun history about the bird:

" ... upon the sultans' request a special breed of pigeon was bred in the Manisa Palace. (Manisa is an old Ottoman city in western Turkey). The pigeon breeders of the sultan developed this unique breed of pigeon. For centuries the breed was kept away from the common people. This is one of the reasons why Hünkari is still known as the bird of the sultans in its homeland." Source From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

    Thank you & be safe.

No problem. I understand, I am often late myself.
Thank you very much for the interesting information about the bird. I have the facts added to my information files.

Excellent contest entry - now not sure that I want to enter. Like the monochromatic image with the color in the eye. Grid pattern is much nicer than a blank background. Proper placement of focus on the eye with good overall focus. Nice capture of detail in both the black and the white. :Like the flow of the line to the eye. Well done.

Well photographed Oriental Frill Pigeon, beautiful face and eye . I love the scalloped feather pattern.
Well focused, the image is clear, exposure is correct, the colors and tones appear natural, no blow outs on the whites. Nice catch light in the eye. Well composed and presented!
