Sometimes the do. I'm not kidding. They migrate south in winter. You can employ them for any battels the Robins fight. :O)

I like the pose, however, the bird is a little tight on/in the canvas, to me a little more on both the left and right side would bring a better balance to the presentation.
However, The big area that is a big detractor for me and for the whole painting, is the hazy area at the bird's beak, the head, and the upper right corner, it really destroys that area and affects the rest of the painting in a very negative way to me.
I am sorry to say that one aspect, and it is a big unacceptable error, that makes the painting a very average panting and presentation for me.
Do you know what I mean?

However, The big area that is a big detractor for me and for the whole painting, is the hazy area at the bird's beak, the head, and the upper right corner, it really destroys that area and affects the rest of the painting in a very negative way to me.

Thank you Lucien, I know that you would criticize the tight framing because after posting the image it accrued to me as well. It never came to my mind that the haziness of the background could be a mayor error. I have to admit that I had another branch at the background at first, but it looked to crowded. Now I had the feel that the empty area leaked perspective. So I decided to ad the haziness found often beneath a jungle canopy. I spend more time to change the background and ad the textures there, then I spend on the bird itself. At the moment I am confused. I have to re-think my whole concept, it seems. :o)

the most import thing to remember is what people accept in a photo, they will not accept in piece of artwork. also be careful of this that give rating when there are issues with the image, they are not your friends, or interested in you getting better.

Well shaped with good, realistic structure, well defined feathers , face and beak, you bring him to life with your creation of the eye, that catch light establishes a connection between the viewer and the Oriole. It's a lovely show of the sunlight coming in from top right corner. I like the plants that he has perched on and the way they frame the top. Well created, impressive to view, well presented!
