A very impressive capture of this huge butte, near Mesa Verde National Park. The background colouring of the sunset? and the mountains in the distant background looks like it is painted. I like your central positioning of this massive rock which is shot with beautiful lighting, great clarity and focus. A pleasure to view this wonderful work of nature!

The Merrick Butte indeed looks impressive, and the fantastic colors seen in the sky emphasize the dramatic look. You have brought out such fine textures in the golden butte, and it is also standing out from the sky in an excellent way.
The photo is pin sharp showing really clear and well defined details in the butte, and the exposure is spot on.
The format and framing is perfect, and I like the centered placement of the butte. This is a truly great looking and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.

We traveled out west three years ago to Devil's Tower. This looks similar. I have studied geology a bit and the formation of these buttes is fascinating. The colors lend themselves to a sunset. Your minipilation is sutile. The layers tied the prices together beautifully. Nice scene.

What a dramatic image Nik. This butte is commanding the attention of the viewer. What a massive piece of natural art.
The colors are well rendered and the details are clear. Actually I am most impressed by the colors and textures of the clouds. The sky looks like it was painted. Very unique and eye catching.

I appreciate the realism of color and light. The textures of the stone are especial interesting. The rock monument is well placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

The Butte itself akin the Keep of a "Norman Castle" standing on it's motte above the surrounding countryside. Dramatic composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.
