This is a truly beautiful photo of a volcano, and I especially like the strong red glow from the lava. Also the background sky is very pretty, and the silhouetted foreground and the tree are standing out sharp and well defined. The exposure is perfect.
It is nothing wrong with the composition either, and both the framing and format is working so well. A truly lovely and well taken photo Steve, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Super contrast and lighting. I love near monochromatic takes. Focus and DOF is great. Well framed brings the viewers eye directly to the center of interest. Framing also enhances the initial visual impact of the scene.

Thanks a lot Bob. Believe it or not this is at the highest elevation on the big island. The wind was blowing and it was 40 degrees. Froze my nunad off. Couldn't feel the heat or smell anything. Waited until after sunset in order to get the glow and reflection off the clouds. Thanks again for your review ~ Steve

The silhouette of the tree that is framed with the hot clouds is a wonderful solid detail. The hot flowing lava and the blue patches peaking though the hot clouds are so nice to view.
The colors are vivid and the overall presentation is so beautiful.
