Can you tell me why the rivers in Alaska look aqua like that? I saw the same color on a television show about Alaska. I find it interesting.

The water is from the Knik Glacier, it?s the sediments from the glacier that give it this color!

Wow look at the color of the water how amazing and the Autumn colors stand out so well against the turquoise water. Beautiful composition and scenery. Can see why you enjoy walking there. :)

Wow, there would be no justice if this got less than a six! What got my attention first was not the vivid color but the composition. Crazy good diagonal lines all over the place. Some act as leading lines to draw the viewer deep into the scene. Secondly I like the complementary colors of blue/orange, very neat.
There is great drama with the cloudy skies and then a burst of sunlight on the background leaves. And then the reflection....

WOW. The trees and water leads your eye right to the mountain. The mountain also has the orange on it. The blue on the water is like the water in the Caribbean. My thinking this water should be fresh. It is used as a cooling tower.

Thank you so much ! This is glacier water and it?s the sediments in the glacier that give it its color , I love this place because the water never freezes, there is a power plant that keeps it warm, we can fish here all year round , there are nice King salmon here!

The POV is well captured. The use of shade and shadows give a great deal of depth to the scene. I love the vertical use of the stream to lead us into the mountains. The autumn colors and the tree line frame the river and the mountains. The cloudy skies accent the snowy peaks.

The color of this water has an amazing color, and I remember seeing the same colors in the Canadian Rickie's. I especially like the fine reflections you have captured in the shiny water, and also how it is framed by the colorful autumn trees.
The photo is of course also very sharp showing clear and well defined details all over, and the exposure is spot on.
The cropping is perfect, and with the great leading lines it is a very good balance in the composition. A truly beautiful and well taken photo Pat, and with an excellent DOF.

Hi Pat, I absolutely love the color of the water here!!!! I also love the way the river flows thru the image. The bend in the river makes this picture. It looks so cool with the trees on ither side, the mountain in the background and those clouds. Focus and lighting make it outstanding! :o) Nancy
