Brrr.... it makes me cold just looking at it, lol. Yet another stunning photo though. and what a beautiful animal. I like the fact that you can see just how cold it is by her breath in the air and the ice on her hair.

Hi Pat, A long time ago I interviewed for a position in a Hospital in Homer. The interview was carried out over a few days. One of the meetings was with what I took to be a Conservation Officer, although that is not what she called herself. She had detailed information on the flora and fauna of the area. The one telling moment I recall most vividly was when she said, "Don't let your children throw snowballs at the Moose." With utmost seriousness she followed with, "They don't like that."
Of every thing that occurred on that trip that encounter still rings in my memory.
Excellent camera angle. It shows off the animals facial features clearly with sharp focusing through out. Focus is so sharp I can count the chin whisker's.
Fine timing for the frame at the high point of the action. The tight framing of the Moose's head is a head turner. It gets the viewers attention immediately. The condensing breath of the cow adds drama and sets a cold mood.
Very well done ... Bob

Thanks so much Bob! Lol this is very true, it?s a rule that we don?t throw snowballs at moose! The are beautiful and majestic animals but if agitated they are very dangerous, on the one hand it?s pretty cool that we get to photograph them in our yards but at the same time , I have to always go out and check the back yard with a flash light to be sure there isn?t one out there before I can let my dogs out. They weigh well over a thousand pounds and have big bone structures as compared to a horse, they stomp with their front legs ! I am honored by your six star rating!

That is very cool. So, cool, you can see her breath! LOL
I always wondered how they generate enough heat to survive the cold just by eating tree bark.

I can actually feel the cold in this image. The mist/fog as well as the desaturated colours really help with this. Maybe a little more space on the left of the shot could've helped a bit? Great use of the DOF, with making the subject stand out from the BG. Very nice and thanks for sharing.

OMG Pat this is stunning!!
I'm very jealous that you have visitors like this one, all I get are rabbits!!! Lol
You've captured this very close shot with such amazing detail, the texture of her coat, the softness of her muzzle, the soft fur in her ears and the ice caught in her coat. Her eye is sharp and filled with life and the steam from her breath is awesome.
I love your composition, how she's filled the frame, with the birch branches above and her breath below.
Just lovely.
