Great ethereal effect with the overall ambience. I like how this effect is combined with the textures of the bird that are retained in this image. It's really cool how seeing an image like this that shows me the intricacies of color and pattern that some creatures have that I don't really think about when I see them on a daily basis.

Hi Pat, you only see these colors when the sun is shining just right on a starling. You captured this starling just right with the lighting. The sharp focus lets us really see the feathers. They are considered a pest here but can't deny they are beautiful little birds when you see the colors.
You have captured this one perfectly the lighting allowing the colors of his plumage to stand out against the brown background.
Focus on the eye is tack sharp and your white balance and exposure are spot on.
