The cold has been so effectively photographed. I can see and feel the frost hanging in the air. The afterglow has given this scene such a artistic feel. The timing of this shot was perfect. The almost vertical river portion runs through the scene and is framed nicely by the tree lined banks. Nice shot.

Wow Pat, 2023 has so far been good to you with chances to capture scenes like this. I don't know where to start.
A perfect composition with the diagonal lines cutting across the scene, amazing.
The reflection in the still water is mesmerizing. I love the stark contrast between the black reflection and the white snow. The color of the sunset contrasts so well with the blue sky. The swirl of the clouds is crazy good.
Although subtle, the trees and the shoreline serve as leading lines toward the sunset.
If Alaska put out a state calendar, this should be the cover it is that good.

This has wow factor but out of 6s... what an area you live in. And you have the "eye" to capture stunning vistas. Everything about this has dynamics, appeal, splendour, nature. Your capture is perfect in angle and scene construction, light management and presentation.

I am so happy I kept one last 6 stars, I had a feeling that one picture will deserve it more then anything. This is like you have photographed a piece of heaven . The tones are soooo calming, the pov is splendid. I mean OMG, really, Pat! It is simply fantastic ! I am speechless in front of this beauty. A very good picture is the one that doesn't need to be explained, because is speaks for itself. Your image is one of those. What am I supposed to add ? It's all clear. It is done perfectly and you know it . We can all give up photography now :)
