Glena I am absolutely impressed with the amount of detail you have captured in the petals of this lovely Rose.

The stark contrast between the yellow of the Rose and the black of blacks for a background is eye catching to say the least. But you have kept it all under control with the coloration of the leaves of the stem. Incorporating that shade of blue was simply inspired. The end result - color harmony.

This piece is so easy to look at. The bright contrast is so well tempered by the well chosen secondary colors.

This is such a beautiful rose, my father-in-law was especially fond of yellow roses! An excellent job with shading to give depth to this beauty, love the veining and highlighting on the leaves, it really pops against the black background,making for a great initial impact. I had to double check that this was not a photo. Your use of shade and shadow is outstanding. The petal definition is excellent. The use of the space ratio of the flower verses the background is spot on. Great color, and the leaf construction is good.

This is beautifully done, I love to work with oil pastels but I can never work a piece like this. Plus I love yellow roses, this one is perfect, elegant , love the black background

Thank you so much artist friend Lise, for reviewing, supporting and your fine support, encouraging comments. Although oil pastels can some times be a little messy, they are nothing like soft pastels. I agree with what you once said so much. I've only worked with soft oil pastels lately and they are so much better than regular soft, or even harder oils--in my opinion, because they blend easier.

My husband is the gardner, but he has problems growing roses as well as most other flowers in our soil, so I value the few of those that have blossomed well. Sounds like you are artistic in this field too.

This is a lovely yellow rose , I like the angle you have placed it in and its position within the frame.
The rose is well created with accurate shape and structure, well applied color and good show of the light ad shadows.
I like also the leaves and the blue .
The rose , stem and leaves are standing out beautifully from the black background .
