Yes - when it's not blowing (last week we had 100 mph gust), not burying us in snow and the sun breaks through the clouds.... for a few months... I feel very lucky to get out and reconnect with nature. Thanks Brian - I appreciate your support.

A great capture of this cow Moose in the water. The water dripping from the mouth ads such a natural element and shows good action.
Good placement of the subject in the scene. Good details on the Moose. Overall very nice composition. Well done.

The moose are so glorious to see and your photo is no exception. You have shown their beauty and size in realistic way. She looks like she's been eating at the bottom of the pond. I like how many nice details you have captured and the natural feeling of the photo both in color, and in the view of nature around this huge beast. Lighting is well handled with a minimum of bleach out, perhaps a dehaze filter at low setting might have helped little bit but it does not to detract from the well focused and nicely presented picture. An excellent entry for the contest, best wishes to you!

Hmm, you're the second review that has suggested dehazing. I'll have to see if that helps. I find that anytime I download onto FAR, my images get darker; thus, I have a tendency to brighten them. Oh well, it's time to calibrate my monitors (again). Thank you so much for your transparent, honest, supportive review. :o)

Great title again! We watched a cow moose do this up north last summer , they love to eat the plants that grow on the bottom of the lakes and ponds. Here you captured her just as she lifted her head . Correct shutter speed to freeze that splash of water.
I like her placement within the frame Allowing plenty of room for her to move or look into.
Well focused, nice, clear image with well managed exposure on what appears to be a sunny day.
I love the natural surroundings here ,allowing a good sense of this location .

Yes, they require the salts offered in shallow ponds. If interested, here is an excerpt from the Forest Society. "The summer aquatic plant diet of North American moose (Alces alces) is linked to the need to obtain sodium. Studies by wildlife biologists on the Copper River Delta in Alaska cite moose habitat preferences, seasonal diets, forage abundance and quality and population surveys indicating emergent plants in small shallow ponds are particularly important to moose populations." And Yes, while some suggest photo's can only be taken during "prime" hours of the day - I find that impossible (especially with wildlife shots). When the opportunity presents, I think we just need to adjust and make the most out of it. LOL.

Thank you for this info. It is interesting indeed, we spend time up in The copper River area in summer. I agree also that we need to work with what we have when an opportunity presents itself especially here in summer when it’s daylight at 11 pm.

Absolutely, I imagine your daylight hours really impede and minimalize your "Perfect" time to take pics. LOL So hey, on another note, you posted a landscape a few months ago with Lupines in the foreground. I've been obsessed with that image! I think about it frequently. I have to ask, how did you get the Lupines to brighten / stand out. My experience has been they would have been a low-lit cast of grays. Any tricks to the trade are appreciated.
