Striking! You have really been able to capture the color variation and patterns in this green Heron. This close up allows the viewer(s) a rare, welcomed oppotunity to see the intricate details in the plumage and feathers of this breed. The depth is very effective and while the floating moss in the water (background) is slightly busy, it does not compete with the subject. The exposure is spot on and has allowed for all those wonderful colors to be appreciated. Great detail on the talons (feet). Very nice.

Hi Brian, I would have loved to capture a shot of the heron catching a meal but he wouldn't co-operate. Lol I was really glad to capture this shot with the intense stare. Glad you liked the shot even though he didn't have a f8sh in his bill. Thanks for the great review! :o) Nancy

Great find! I only saw this bird once in my life so far, and the photo was far. This is a great one/ He looks like he doesn't see you at all because of the interest of the food possibility.

Hi Nancy, a very nice shot of this heron. I have always thought the green herons are cool as they differ so much from other herons.
I like the diagonal shape of the bird that adds interest. He is surely intent on seeing something in the water. I like how the branches on the right mimic his own legs.
Very sharp, excellent composition and nice color balance. Well done.

Oh Nancy, this is a nice capture of the green heron! I love the way it is posed on the branch as it looks into the water.
Well timed to capture this pose.
The heron is clear and well focused, you have brought out nice detail over every part of this bird.
Exposure is well managed, colors and tones appear true and natural.
Well composed allowing a great sense of these surroundings, the heron is standing out beautifully!
Well presented!
