I don't think I've ever seen this thistle before, although admittedly what I know about flowers wouldn't fill a thimble.

You have caught wonderful detail of the petals. And I didn't see the bees until I second look...well done. The thistle really stands out nicely with the purple blurred out background. Very nice. Good luck in the contest.
