Well, this looks very interesting and makes me want to go through that gate and explore what is on the other side. Nicely composed and focused.

Thank you very much for the lovely review. I have lived in the same house since I was 1 1/2 years and took it over when my grandparents died. I suppose that is pretty unusual.

What a sweet photo and sweet memories. I love your story. How did you do this on Picnik? I love how you did the tree around the gate. Really nice. Thanks for sharing.

T see bark effect properly I had to first add a very strong and big white vignette. Then I just added the texture. Very easy. Thank you very much for the review.

Sweet story in your notes. Too long ago to remember where and when I got my first kiss. Lovely little gate with good story telling ability.

Thank you very much for the review. It was long ago, but I still remember, and I think I am older than you.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful gate and the story behind it. I most certainly understand why you would not want to replace it or even work out it other than to keep it from totally falling apart. What wonderful memories you have of this gate, which means you are living in the house in which you grew up. I, on the other hand, have moved all over. I only got attached to one house, and I was only there for a few years, and most of that time I was working away from home on a computer contract. Then, I got a long term contract and had to move. I doubt that I will ever get attached to any place again, I'm almost 68, two more weeks, and I don't know where I want to settle in the next few years. I envy you living with all of your memories. Mine are scattered all over the country, in 6 different states, and multiple locations in those states. The gate looks recessed in a stone wall with a stone walkway with greenery on both sides. It is beautiful. I can't tell for sure, but I think it is wrought-iron. What wonderful memories you have and what a great daily reminder.

It is wrought-iron and it is a stone wall. The stone wall is of course just as old, but still in good shape. They did solid work in these days. Thanks for the lovely review.

You are welcome for the review. Yes, they built with the intention of things lasting. I always say that we constantly tear everything down here and rebuild so that we can go to Europe to see old buildings.

Good enter of interest and attention to detail.

It looks like it is in a tree trunk. Did you do something to it to give it this view or is just me. I really enjoyed your notes about the story of the gate. Great job in presenting this photo.

I tried out different textures, and I thought the bark one worked nicely just because it looked like the gate was sitting in the trunk. I really liked the effect. Thank you very much for the review.
