Those fleamarkets are always fun. We could go to one every day of the week in this area. Very good POV of the buyer and the seller with even the produce. Thanks for the information and the photo.

Thank you so very much--good review:)
Comment from Life is but a dream.

This image has a nice 'homey' feel to it.

COMPOSITION
As far as story telling this is a good image to get lost in and I find myself wondering how much a basket of those apples cost?

You have placed the story telling element well into the frame but that background detracts, don't you think? A blur would have helped this image along, but that is just a mere suggestion for you because my opinion is subjective and I honor your artistic prerogative.

TECHNIQUE
You shot this on a bright sunny day probably around noon or even a bit later as those shadows are not all that long. Can you see the face of the vendor? He is encased in shadow and that could be brought out more in post processing...I will explain in the suggestions for you.

The colours are great, the tonality is nice, your dof is your choice to make everything in focus and your POV is so common, albeit appropriate.

SUGGESTIONS
Change your POV, experiment, bend your knees, get on your tummy. Can you see how this image is common...Y'see, we see the world at 5 1/2 feet height, that means if I was walking with you at the fair and looked over I would see this very same scene. Had you changed your POV you could have ended up with an extraordinary image, one very different from this one.

This image is a snapshot, not that there is anything bad about snapshots, there have been excellent ones even on this site. A snapshot is a quick capture of a scene without too much thought put into it and that is what this image feels like, like you just shot a scene that was in front of you...and as I said, that is NOT a bad thing.

Further to the hard shadows on the faces, especially the vendor. If you take your image into software (I use PHOTOSHOP) you can bring out that face to show us his expression, I'm sure your software has that feature as well. (mark deduction for post processing fault)

Also, blurring tool could have been used to blur that busy background which takes away from the story.

Hope my suggestions will be useful for you.

I don't know about on my stomach--to get the shot, would have stirred the crowd probably, but I could have squatted to get an interesting angle--you're so right--I'm still a little "chicken" to try for those shots, but I need to. I really appreciate your interest and help towards my photography. I just got Photoshop--haven't used it yet. The blur in the background sounds nice. I wanted to show the crowd, but I guess I did already have a lot in my photo. Thanks for this review:)

That blur button is wonderful, in my PS it has a mind of it's own it seems and works well on some images and not at all on others. As for getting on your tummy....carry your camera on your hip and shoot from your hip if you can especially if you have one of those cameras where the screen tilts. If you take this image into photoshop...do this, just for fun....go to Image...then Adjustments...then go down to Shadow/Highlight and hit that button and watch the face on the vendor....it will show up clearly...that's always so magical to me, sure beats the good old days of darkroom (perhaps before your time)....have fun

Thank you so very much for this information...I have worked on the shadow, but not in PS yet, got to learn that too, thanks for help with that too. That is a great idea about the camera on the hip, but I'm going to check and see if my camera swivels--I doubt it does. I remember darkroom days--my sister-in-law had one (darkroom), but I don't know anything about them:)

did you do something to this image now? The vendors face seems brighter than before. The nice thing about PS is that when you muck about with a photo, you can go up to edit and there is a "step backwards" button and it will undo what you just did...but don't get carried away because it will only step back about 10 times then it won't do it for you anymore.

Yeah, I tried to get that shadow off in my computer gallery thing:) I think I may be able to try to start PS--since your help:) I really appreciate your friendly help:)

I was thinking last night (while I was in the bathtub) that I should have told you that you can also take a DODGE tool (in PS) make your brush the softest possible and start with a 10% and just paint out his face a bit....but the other way is "healthier" gives a better all round effect.

Thanks, and how relaxing:) I tried PS today.. I can get my image there (never used PS), but can't get blur to do anything, I drag holding down the shift, ctrl and alt, but nothing. I'm going to have to read a lot of instructions. Talk to ya later:)

The blur tool is a pain in the butt, sometimes it works and oftentimes it doesn't. It doesn't blur a lot, just a bit. If you go to the left hand side of the PS page you will see the blur button, it looks like a little drop, if you R click on it you will see that underneath there are two other buttons, sharpen and smudge (which is fun). You want to use the drop that's blut. You don't need to hold shift, ctrl and alt ...not for the blur tool. Just make sure the image is up press that button and go for it....try the smudge button just for fun you will see results quicker than with blur.

This is wonderful the way you took this one. I like the way you see all that produce that he is selling. I like the way you see so far down the market. I like the way you caught them talking like this too. An excellent picture.

Nice image here. Good color and it tells a story. Perhaps if it showed the faces better to see their expressions. Thank you.

This looks like it would be a lot of fun. Nice storytelling capture. It makes the viewer decide what the conversation is about. Good color and clarity. Nice composition. Well done.

I'll help you--the man bought tomatoes, the vendor was telling him the price of the fruit and vegetables, but you could have got that mostly:) I really like and appreciate this review:)
Comment from bpoldervaart

I like this picture mainly because you have so many different things to look at besides the two men. There are different tables and people all around. Very good

Thank you so much, yeah, though I focused on them closely, wanted to also show the market itself. Good eye you have seeing this:)

Good storytelling in this one. Lots of things in this for interest as well. Nicely done. Good focus. So "America."
